Bruce George Sutherland

Bruce is responsible for developing and preparing R&D and innovation proposals across technology and science areas.

Bruce has a BSc in agricultural science from the University of Strathclyde and a Master’s degree in biotechnology and a doctorate in plant molecular biology from the University of Nottingham. He spent many years working as a scientist focused on the development and application of molecular markers for the selection of agronomically useful traits in plant breeding and for the evaluation of biological diversity in native forest tree populations. Bruce has extensive experience in presenting scientific research combined with strong analytical skills, providing him with a solid basis to work across science and technology areas within a diverse range of sectors.
